Heavenly Father,

In your providential care,

you have blessed your Church with wise shepherds.

Look with favor upon your servant, Francis.

He has been a steadfast herald of your truth

and a compassionate shepherd of your flock.

Grant him rest from his labors,

We ask this through the Shepherd of Souls,

our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God for ever and ever. Amen.
